Common Technical Questions
What file format does the music come in?
Our songs are offered in 192 kbps Mp3 files.
How much disc space do I need?
As a general rule, allow one Megabyte (1 MB) for each minute of downloaded music (recorded at 192 kbps). To find out how much disc space you have, double-click on the "My Computer" icon and then right-click the hard drive, where you will store your music, and select 'Properties'.
Do I need a high speed internet connection?
No, but we highly recommend it. Using a dial-up connection could cause your music to download at a slow rate.
How long does it take to download a song?
Actual download times may vary depending on the length of the song, your system configuration, and Internet traffic. But generally an average song(4-6 MB) takes:
  • Broadband(T1, DSL, ISDN, Cable Modem): under 1 minute
  • 56 kbps modem: 15-20 minutes
Can I connect through a corporate firewall or proxy server?
If you are able to hear the 30-second music samples of songs, then you can download the music to your computer.
Why won't my computer do anything with the music files I downloaded?

Be sure your machine is compliant with the Minimum System Requirements. (See Minimum System Requirements.)

If you can’t burn the music to CD or transfer the music to your portable player, check the troubleshooting guide for your CD burner. If you can’t transfer the music to your portable player, check the troubleshooting guide for your player.

If you have speakers or headphones, be sure they are plugged in correctly and the volume is on.

How many downloads, do I have left?
You have two opportunities to download digital music you purchase. The number of remaining downloads will show in the "Status" section of your order.

Please Note: If you have not been able to complete your download after these two attempts, please contact customer service and your download may be reset.

Do I need to be connected to the Internet to listen to my music?
No. Once you’ve bought your music the license is loaded to your computer so you can use your music anytime whether or not you’re logged on to the internet.
Can I play music from DipSet on my Macintosh computer?
Yes. As long as your Mac has an MP3 compatible player installed, your downloads should work just fine.
